Salmon is classed as an oily fish and is rich in protein and omega-3 fatty acids. It helps to reduce inflammation, lower blood pressure, and decrease risk factors for disease.

Ingredients

Frying the fish

  • 1 tbsp Turmeric Powder

  • 1 tbsp Chilli Powder

  • 1 tbsp Salt

First, let's marinate your fish. Into your bowl (which should contain your fish), add the turmeric powder, chilli powder and the salt. Once done, mix the spices and the salt with your fish by using your hand.

Place a pan on your cooker and wait for it to heat up. Add the oil to the pan and wait for it to heat up. Start to place the fish into the pan making sure to leave enough room between the fish pieces. Leave the fish in the pan for 5 minutes on a medium flame.

After 5 minutes, the fish should start to look reddish. Flip each of the fish pieces to allow both sides of your fish pieces to fully cook. Leave this for another 5 minutes. Keep frying until both sides of the fish look crispy. Remove the fish from the pan and place on a plate for later.

Ingredient for Cooking

  • 1 tbsp Turmeric Powder

  • 1 tbsp Kashmiri Chilli Powder

  • 1 tbsp Coriander Powder

  • 1 tbsp Salt

  • 1 tbsp Red Chilli Powder

  • 3 tbsp Oil

  • 1 whole Garlic cut

  • 3 Medium Size Onions Smashed

Place an empty cooking pot on your cooker and add in the oil. Allow the oil to heat up and then add in your garlic. Allow the garlic to cook until it becomes a rich golden brown colour. After that, add in your onions.

Now, let's add in the salt and cover the lid for 5 minutes on medium flame. After 5 minutes, remove the lid and your onions should now be soft and the water should have removed from the onions and is visible in the cooking pot. We will need all the water to evaporate so continue to cook your onions until the water is gone.

Preparing the Masala

Once the water is gone, add the turmeric powder followed by the Kashmiri Chili powder. Next, add the normal chilli powder followed by the coriander powder. Once added, give your cooking pot a good mix. Close the lid and leave it for another 5 minutes on a low flame. After 5 minutes, open the lid and check on your masala.

Your masala should now be a rich thick red texture. Optionally you can add one cup of water here to ensure it does not burn. You can also add some green chillies here and again give it another mix.

To keep your masala fresh, you can also add in some fresh coriander. Cook this for another 3-4 minutes to ensure the masala is fully cooked.

Adding in the Fried Fish.

With your masala now ready, let's add in our fish from earlier. Ensure to add in only one or two pieces of fish at a time to ensure that your fish does not break. Keep on adding in your fish until they are all in the cooking pot. Each time you add in a fish, make sure to give a gentle mix.

Your Salmon Fish Masala should now be ready to serve.
