Palak paneer is a vegetarian dish that originates from India. It consists of paneer which is a type of cheese and Palak which is made from puréed spinach.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder

  • 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder

  • 1 tsp Salt

  • 4 Pieces Ginger Small Cut

  • 2 tsp Yogurt

  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds

  • 1 whole Garlic Small cut

  • 4-5 Green Chillies

  • 4 tsp Oil

  • 1 tsp Coriander Powder

  • 2 Fresh Tomatoes

  • 1 Big Onion

  • 1 tsp Garam Masala Powder

  • 200 Grams Paneer

  • 250 Grams of Spinach

Boiling the Spinich

To start off, let's place a large cooking pot on top of a cooker and pour 2 litres into the cooking pot until it boils. After the water is at boiling point, add your spinach to the water. Leave the spinach in the water for only about 2-3 minutes on a high flame. Make sure to not leave it for too long as it will lose its colour. Once done, place the spinach in a colander.

Now let's rinse the spinach in cold water as this will help keep the spinach nice and green. Now let's move the spinach into a blender.

Prepare our fried Onions and Tomatoes Masala

In an empty cooking pot, add our oil and allow it to heat up. Once it is heated up, add your garlic and allow it to turn into a golden brown colour. Now let's add the ginger and give it a mix. Now let's add the cumming seeds, onions and our green chillies. Now let's give it a really good mix and then mix in our salt.

Next, add the tomatoes and continue to mix for about 2 minutes. Once fully mixed, allow the masala to cool down. This may take 10-15 minutes. Once cooled down, pour the paste into the blender with your spinach from earlier.

Blend the Masala and Spinach

Once the paste and Spinich are in the blender, blend the entire content to prepare the paste. continue to blend until the paste is thick in texture.

Final Base Paste

In an empty cooking pot, add in some oil followed by the turmeric powder. Next, add the chilli powder and add the coriander powder and mix the entire content.

Now take your blended paste and mix it into your masala. Cover the cooking pot for 2-3 minutes on a medium flame.

Add in your yoghurt and Panner

Lastly, add in some fresh cream as this will keep them all cool. Let's add in our garam masala powder and continue to mix. After a good stir, add the Paneer and give another good mix. Cover the cooking pot for about 2 minutes on a medium flame.

Optionally, you can now add some garnish and fresh cream.
