Mutton Masala curry to enjoy with the family and friends. For this dish, we will first create our own Garam Masala by grinding multiple ingredients. We will then cook the mutton and then finally combine both the mutton and the garam masala together.

Ingredients

Garam masala ingredients:

  • 2 curry leaves

  • 3 star anise

  • Half tsp Fennel

  • 5 green cardamom

  • 1 stick cinnamon

  • 1 tsp peppercorns

  • Half tsp cumin

  • 1 tsp coriander

  • 1 tsp cloves

We will first need to blend the entire mixture of ingredients above. This will create our garam masala for later. You can optionally instead not do this and use garam masala powder instead.

Once blended, your powder should be ready for your mutton.

Mutton Preparation

  • 1 kg mutton

  • 1 onion

  • 2 tsp coriander powder

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp turmeric powder

  • 1 tsp garlic paste

  • 1 tsp ginger paste

  • 1 glass of water

Let's place the mutton in a big cooking pot and add the onion. After that add your coriander powder followed by salt. Promptly add your turmeric powder followed bu your garlic and ginger paste.

Before adding our next item, you will need to give your mutton mix a good mix. Make sure to really mix the entire content so that the meat and spices are all fully mixed. Once done, add your glass of water and proceed again to giving your mutton another good mix.

After mixing, place the lid on your cooking pot and leave the mutton over a fire for five minutes. Do this between 4-5 times. This will ensure that the mutton is well cooked with all the spices fully blended in.

Mutton Curry Ingredients

  • 3 tsp oil

  • 1 tsp garlic paste

  • 1 tsp ginger paste

  • 2 blended onion

  • 2 fresh tomato

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

  • 2 tsp chilli powder

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 2 tsp coriander powder

  • 2 tsp garam masala

  • 7 green chillies

  • 1 cup fresh coriander

For our final part of your curry, get an empty cooking pot and add in the oil. Allow the oil to heat up before adding in both the garlic and ginger paste. Give it a good mix before adding in your next ingredient.

Next, add your smashed onion and give another mix. Let's close the lid and allow the paste and onion to cook for about 3-4 minutes. It should turn a nice soft gold colour. With that done, let's add in our tomatoes and again give the cooking pot another good mix.

Now, let's add the turmeric powder followed by the chilli powder. Add your salt and coriander powder and give it another mix. We are clearly doing a lot of mixing between adding some ingredients but it's important that it's all mixed correctly at each stage.

Let's add our garam masala and yet again make sure to give a good mix ensuring it's all blended together.

Now now, out golden ingredient. Add the mutton from but ensure to not add the water which had been produced while we produced out mutton meat. Close the lid for about 3-5 minutes and then open again to mix it. Once done, you can now add the stock from the mutton. Similar to before, close the lid and allow the mutton curry to cook for about 1-2 minutes. Repeat this for about 3-4 times.

We are almost done, now let's add our green chillies and fresh coriander.
