Macaroni Cheese Recipe

Macaroni and cheese is a traditional American dish that consists of pasta and cheese sauce. The dish is very versatile also as you can also add a number of other ingredients such as vegetables or meat. This can be both a main or side dish and can be served very hot or warm.


Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Salt

  • 0.5 Nut Meg

  • 2 tbsp Mustard

  • 6 Butter Cubes

  • 1 Medium-Sized Onion

  • 4 tbsp Flour

  • 1 Cup Gouda Cheese

  • 1 Cup Cheddar Cheese

  • 1 Cup Mozzarella Cheese

  • 1 Litre Milk

  • 500 grams Pasta

  • 1 tbsp Black Pepper


Instructions


Cooking the Pasta


Boil 2 liters of water until it comes to a boil. Next, add some salt to the water and mix the water. Next, we will add our pasta. Mix the paste and leave it for 10 minutes. After 5 minutes, check the pasta and it should be boiled. For the remaining 5 minutes, continue to mix the pasta. Filter out the water and plate the pasta.


Cooking the Base


Place a cooking pan on your hob and then add the butter. Wait until the butter is melted and then add the onions. Continue to cook the onion until it turns crispy brown.


Now, add the flour and mix the content. Add about half of the milk and then mix the cooking pan. Now add the remaining milk. Using a whisk, stir the milk until the texture of the milk becomes smoother. Do this for about 5-10 minutes.


Add the salt as well as the black pepper. Also, using a grater, add the nutmeg. Mix the milk.


Prepare the Cheese


Turn off the gas and add the mustard. This will give a boost in flavor and add some color. Next, at the gouda, mozerella and cheedar cheese. Mix the cheese until it becomes a fine sticky texture.


We can now add the pasta to the cooking pot.


The base macaroni cheese and pasta are now ready to be baked in an oven.


Baking the Macaroni and Cheese


Before placing the Macaroni and Cheese in the oven, add some extra cheese on top as this will melt in the oven and give an extra crunch.


At 200 degrees for 20 minutes, place the Macaroni and Cheese in the over.


After 20 minutes, you are now ready to serve your dish.
